The mission of Building With Books is to enhance education and empowering youth in the U.S. to make a positive difference in their communities while helping people of developing countries increase their self-reliance through education.
- Do Something
Do Something is a nationwide network of young people who know they can make a difference in their communities and take action to change the world around them. It also includes information on how civic organizations can connect to youth.
- Family Cares
This is an on-line resource for families which includes step-by-step projects, caring activities for kids, and resources to help parents teach their children about social issues such as homelessness, hunger, aging, and illness. Free membership is needed to access parts of the website.
- Kids Care Clubs
The mission of Kids Care Club is to develop compassion and the spirit of charity in children through hand-on service projects that benefit the needy in their local and global community. There are over 650 clubs in 49 states.
- National Service-Learning Clearinghouse
A comprehensive information system that focuses on all dimensions of service-learning, covering kindergarten through higher education school based as well as community based initiatives.
- United Children's Fund
An international charity providing financial, humanitarian, and volunteer aid to some of the poorest women, men, and children in the remote villages of East Africa.
- Visions Service Adventures
VISIONS is a co-ed summer program for teenagers combining construction-based community service, outdoor exploration and adventure, and intercultural living. Programs operate during July and August in Australia, Peru, Alaska, Montana, South Carolina, the Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe and Dominica.

- Youth Service America
Youth Service America (YSA) is a resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people in America, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally, and globally. YSA believes that participation in service and civic engagement activities, are key components of positive youth development and a way to build stronger and healthier communities.
- Youth Venture
Youth Venture is a national non-profit organization that empowers young people ages 12-20 by providing them all the tools necessary to create civic-minded organizations, clubs or businesses. We provide access to a variety of resources including: a national network of like-minded young people, media opportunities and up to $1,000 in seed capital needed to launch their organizations. We believe that youth inherently have the creativity and determination to create genuine change within their communities.
- Youth Volunteer Corps of America
The Youth Volunteer Corps promotes civic responsibility through volunteerism among youth ages 11-18. The program draws young people from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and actively involves them in community problem solving through structured volunteer service.
